Headline vs Study
- Headline: Mom and Dad Were Right: New Study Shows Just How Important Breakfast Really Is. It Turns Out Where Kids Eat Breakfast Matters a Whole Lot, Too.
- Study: Cross-sectional correlation of skipping breakfast or eating breakfast out of home and psychosocial behavioral problems in Spanish children. NOT consuming "coffee, milk, tea, chocolate, cocoa, yogurt, etc." or "bread, toast, cookies, pastries, etc." for breakfast was related to greater odds of psychosocial behavioural problems, too!
Contrary or Null Findings
- "Contrary to prior research, the intake of salty snacks and alcoholic beverages dropped by 3.3% and 2.8%, respectively, during the first lockdown."
- "Contrary to our hypothesis, birth related factors (e.g., low birth weight, preterm birth and exclusive breastfeeding until 6 months of age) are not associated with physical inactivity."
- "Contrary to reports suggesting levels of MGL [monoacylglycerol lipase] should be attenuated, our results revealed a marked increase of both targets in the gastrointestinal tract...in a Murine Model of Obesity."
- "We found, contrary to what is reported to occur in adults, that pre-operative percentage loss of adipose tissue in subcutaneous, visceral, and intermuscular compartments was similar to the post-operative percentage loss of corresponding adipose tissue compartments in adolescents 12 to 26 weeks after sleeve gastrectomy."
- "Contrary to predictions, females with higher body condition indices produced yolks that grew more slowly, and yolks from supplemented birds grew more slowly than controls. These results indicate that females can modulate the rate of yolk incorporation into developing follicles, and that an energy balance that is too high may not be optimal for the fast growth of developing ovarian follicles."
- Meta-Analysis of RCTs: No Significant "Effects of exercise training in hypoxia versus normoxia on fat-reducing in overweight and/or obese adults."
- RCT: "this trial did not provide evidence for effects of a single dose of inorganic nitrate on 4 h vascular endothelial function in abdominally obese men."
- RCT: No Significant "Efficacy of Exercise Training for Cutaneous Microvascular Reactivity in the Foot in People with Diabetes and Obesity."

Contrary or Null Findings
- Meta-Analysis: "Tart cherry juice had no effect on total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), insulin, BMI, fat mass, systolic and diastolic blood pressure."
- Meta-Analysis: Probiotics in Bariatric Surgery Ensure Greater Lipids and Glycemic Profile with No Effect on Anthropometric Measurements and Inflammatory Markers.
- High Intakes of Iodine Among Women During Pregnancy and the Postpartum Period Has No Adverse Effect [association] on Thyroid Function.
- Meta-Analysis: "Coffee consumption has no effect on circulating markers of liver function but increases adiponectin concentrations."
- Meta-Analysis: "Sea buckthorn had no effect on blood sugar, blood pressure, and BMI of the overall subjects."
- No Statistically Significant Evidence for an Association between Ultraprocessed Food Intake and Overweight, Obesity, and Malnutrition Among Children in Tehran, Iran.
- RCT: "...in adults with pre-diabetes, this study examines the effect of six months of supplementation with probiotic and prebiotic interventions on the primary outcome of glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) at six months...This study found no evidence of clinical benefit from the supplementation with either HN001 and/or OBG cereal on HbA1c or any secondary outcomes and does not support the clinical use of these interventions in populations with pre-diabetes."
- "Although lean NASH is considered to be more benign than obese NASH, our study suggests a paradoxical correlation of lean NASH with waitlist outcomes, and graft and patient survival post-LT."
